Why I’m Advising My Clients to Stop Using Real Wood for High-Traffic Interiors.
As a supplier in the architectural cladding industry, I love the smell and touch of natural timber. But let’s be honest: in 2026, putting real wood in a commercial lobby or a high-rise facade is becoming a liability, not a luxury.
Between skyrocketing maintenance costs and increasingly brutal fire safety codes (Class A requirements), architects are stuck between a "beautiful design" and a "legal nightmare."
The "Hidden Tax" of Natural Wood
I recently visited a project where the real cedar louvers started warping after just two seasons of humidity. The cost to sand, treat, and refinish them? More than the original installation.
That’s why we developed our Engineered Wood-Grain Aluminium. It’s not just "fake wood"—it’s a performance material designed to solve three specific problems:
1. The "Fire-Rated" Aesthetic
You no longer have to choose between a warm oak finish and a Class A fire rating. Our aluminium veneer provides the exact visual DNA of North American Walnut or Burmese Teak, but it simply will not burn. Period.
2. Zero-Maintenance Lifecycle
No Warping: Aluminium doesn't care about humidity.
No Termites: Obviously.
No UV Fading: Our PVDF coating technology keeps the "Teak" looking like Teak for 20+ years, even in direct tropical sunlight.
3. Sustainability is more than a Buzzword
Using aluminium saves old-growth forests. Plus, at the end of the building’s life, every single panel is 100% recyclable. That’s a massive plus for LEED or BREEAM certifications.
[Expert Tip for Architects]: If you are worried about the "metallic" sound, don't be. By using our Acoustic Perforated Wood Panels with a non-woven backing, you can actually achieve better sound absorption than solid timber.

I’ve put together a "Durability vs. Cost" Whitepaper specifically for project managers. It compares Real Wood, WPC, and Wood-Grain Aluminium across a 10-year horizon.
